The background of the founders and principals of Quadrant was gained at board level as practicing risk managers in banks and other financial organisations. Since formation in 1991 many projects have been carried out in all aspects of corporate governance and risk management both in the UK and internationally. This has included advising banks, building societies, insurance companies and other financial institutions including ministries of finance, regulatory authorities and pan governmental organisations such as the European Union.  In 2001 Quadrant was asked by several customers if we would encapsulate our knowledge in a solution to the new regulatory and compliance requirements being introduced by the BIS Basel II Capital Accord.  From this our B² family of solutions was born.

Quadrant’s Basel II solution comes in two models: 

• B² is an Advanced Approaches for Basel II and the basis for achieving full ERM (Enterprise Risk Management)
• SAB² (Standardised Approach for Basel II) is Quadrant’s Capital Adequacy Calculation and Reporting Engine, which implements the Standardised Approach to Basel II Credit and Operational Risk.
